Islamabad, Pakistan – April 13, 2025 – A high-level delegation from the United States Congress, led by Representative Jack Bergman, held a significant meeting with General Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on regional security, defense cooperation, and economic development.

The U.S. lawmakers commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for their sustained efforts in counter-terrorism operations, recognizing Pakistan’s crucial contributions to maintaining peace in the region. They also acknowledged the resilience of the Pakistani people and the nation’s strategic importance. The delegation emphasized the United States’ respect for Pakistan’s sovereignty and expressed a strong desire to expand bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

General Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a mutually beneficial partnership with the United States, based on respect for each other’s national interests. He expressed appreciation for the delegation’s visit, highlighting the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration. The signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for training collaboration in Information Technology (IT) underscores the growing focus on technology-driven partnerships between the two nations.

According to the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. and Pakistan have a long-standing partnership on counterterrorism and security issues, and the U.S. provides Pakistan with security assistance to support its efforts to combat terrorism.
