High-level talks aim to bolster trade, investment, and regional cooperation.

Key Takeaways:

  • The UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is undertaking a significant two-day official visit to Pakistan.
  • Discussions will center on strengthening bilateral relations, with a strong emphasis on trade, investment, energy cooperation, and regional security.
  • The visit highlights the deep-rooted and fraternal relations between Pakistan and the UAE, and their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation.

Islamabad, Pakistan – In a move to solidify the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has commenced a two-day official visit to Pakistan. According to the Foreign Office, this high-level visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen their bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The visit of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan is expected to further cement the already strong Pakistan-UAE ties and contribute to deepening bilateral engagements in diverse fields, benefiting the peoples of both countries.

The visit, as detailed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, will involve comprehensive talks with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar. These discussions are set to cover the full spectrum of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on key areas such as trade and investment, energy cooperation, regional security, and people-to-people linkages.

Furthermore, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan is scheduled to meet with Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, to reaffirm the shared vision of both countries for regional peace and prosperity. The Foreign Office has emphasized that this visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and concern.

The strong economic ties are also demonstrated by the large amount of remittances sent from the Pakistani communities living within the UAE, that are a large support to the Pakistani economy.

This visit follows recent efforts by both nations to expand their economic collaboration, as evidenced by agreements signed during the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s visit to Islamabad in February. These prior agreements included sectors such as mining, railways, banking, and infrastructure development.

The strong economic ties are also demonstrated by the large amount of remittances sent from the Pakistani communities living within the UAE, that are a large support to the Pakistani economy. “These figures reflect not only the strength of our economic partnership, but also the vital role played by the Pakistani diaspora in supporting the national economy,” as was stated by sources covering the visit.

The visit of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan is expected to further cement the already strong Pakistan-UAE ties and contribute to deepening bilateral engagements in diverse fields, benefiting the peoples of both countries.
