Pakistan witnesses a surge in digital consumption as monthly data usage reaches nearly 10 GB per subscriber.

Key Takeaways

• Monthly mobile data usage per subscriber hit a record 9.71 GB in March 2026, showcasing a rapid rise in local digital content consumption.

• The average data usage has nearly tripled since fiscal year 2019, growing from 3.3 GB to the current highs recorded in early 2026.

• Next Generation Mobile Services connections rose by 347,000 in March alone, bringing the total internet-connected base to 156.6 million.

Islamabad, Pakistan – The latest industry data reveals a significant shift in Pakistan’s digital landscape, with mobile data consumption reaching an unprecedented peak. This growth underscores the increasing reliance on high-speed mobile internet for both economic activity and personal communication across the country.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the surge in data traffic reflects a broader trend of digital penetration that has seen connections grow from 69.4 million in FY19 to current levels. This expansion in the subscriber base, coupled with higher individual usage, indicates a maturing digital economy. While the infrastructure continues to scale, the leap from 8.4 GB in FY24 to 9.71 GB today suggests that video streaming and digital financial services are becoming primary drivers of bandwidth demand.
