ADB’s Funding Push for Hyderabad-Sukkur Link to Rev Up Pakistan’s Trade

Key Takeaways
• ADB steps up with financing know-how for PPP model on M6 sections.
• Links Hyderabad-Sukkur faster, slashing costs for Pakistan’s exporters.
• Quick build with safety upgrades to fire up jobs and economy.

Karachi, Pakistan – Pakistan’s National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a key pact to develop two vital sections of the M6 Motorway between Hyderabad and Sukkur, with ADB leading the financing charge through a smart Public-Private Partnership (PPP) setup.
This deal puts ADB front and centre, offering expert advice and financial structuring to make the 120-km stretches investor-ready. It fills a big gap in our north-south highway network, set to ease cargo movement from Punjab and Sindh to Karachi ports, cut travel times, and bring down those high logistics costs hurting our economy.
With modern tolls and safety features on the cards, the project eyes completion in just two years. It’s a win for Pakistan’s growth story, creating jobs and boosting trade in a tough global market.
