Operational efficiency at the national port remains steady with significant movement in liquid and containerized cargo.

Key Takeaways

• Karachi Port Trust handled 207,131 metric tonnes of total cargo within 24 hours, reflecting steady operational capacity at the main port.

• Import volumes dominated the daily activity at 144,383 tonnes, while containerized exports reached a healthy level of 4,290 units of TEUs.

• Total container handling stood at 8,432 TEUs, supported by active berth occupancy with nine vessels currently loading and unloading cargo.

Karachi, Pakistan – The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) recorded a robust 24 hour operational cycle, facilitating the movement of over 207,131 metric tonnes of cargo. In a recent 𝕏 post Karachi Port Trust said, “Karachi Port Trust maintained seamless port operations over the last 24 hours, handling 207,131 metric tonnes of total cargo.”

The consistent handling of over 200,000 tonnes of cargo daily highlights KPT’s vital role in sustaining Pakistan’s international trade.

Detailed data from the KPT Daily Vessel Movement Report confirms that the bulk of this activity was driven by import volumes, which stood at 144,383 tonnes, while exports contributed 62,748 tonnes. The liquid cargo segment showed particular strength, with 87,411 tonnes of imports and 9,970 tonnes of exports handled during the period.

On the container front, the port processed a total of 8,432 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). This included 4,142 TEUs of imported containers and 4,290 TEUs for export. The high level of export container movement suggests a consistent flow of Pakistani manufactured goods and commodities reaching international markets through the country’s primary maritime gateway.
