Hungary Offers 400 Scholarships to Boost Pakistani Ties

Islamabad, Pakistan – April 19, 2025 – Hungary has announced a significant offer of 400 fully funded scholarships for Pakistani students, signaling a strong commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. The announcement was made during a joint press conference in Islamabad, attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó.

The scholarship program, known as the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, aims to provide opportunities for Pakistani students to pursue higher education in Hungary across a wide range of disciplines. These include Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs. The Hungarian government will cover tuition fees, accommodation, health insurance, and living expenses for the selected students.

Szijjártó acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in maintaining regional stability and expressed Hungary’s solidarity with Islamabad’s peace initiatives. He also mentioned that around 1,700 applications from Pakistani students had already been received for the 400 available slots.

During the press conference, both ministers emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in education, trade, industry, and cultural exchange. Ishaq Dar welcomed Péter Szijjártó’s visit, highlighting Hungary’s role in supporting Pakistan’s industrial growth. Szijjártó acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in maintaining regional stability and expressed Hungary’s solidarity with Islamabad’s peace initiatives. He also mentioned that around 1,700 applications from Pakistani students had already been received for the 400 available slots.

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship program has been running for several years, providing opportunities for Pakistani students to study in Hungary. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan facilitates the application process for Pakistani nationals.
