Islamabad, Pakistan – April 17, 2025 – Pakistan is optimistic about strengthening its economic ties with China through increased collaborative ventures, facilitated by the recently inaugurated Belt and Road Economic and Trade Center (BRETC).

The BRETC, launched in Changshu City, China, is designed to be a central hub for trade, investment, and cultural exchange between China and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partner countries, including Pakistan. The center offers resources such as dedicated country display zones, liaison offices, and support services to encourage joint ventures and facilitate market access.

Ibrahim Munir, chairman of the IBI International Group, noted Changshu’s strategic location and favorable business environment as key factors in its selection as the BRETC’s location.

Moin Ul Haque, a BRETC advisor and former Pakistani ambassador to China, emphasized the platform’s role in fostering deeper integration and providing comprehensive solutions for trade and investment between Pakistan and China. He highlighted the potential for increased economic cooperation and the benefits the BRETC offers to Pakistani businesses seeking to expand their reach in the Chinese market.
